ATLAS Neck Gym Frequently asked questions:

1) What is the most common reason for Neck pain ?
The main reason people suffer from chronic neck pain is a combination of static loading and progressive muscle weakness, leading to what is often called "Postural Syndrome."

2) How can we improve the strength of our muscles ?
We can do this by targeting the "Deep Stabilizers" Most people only train the "mirror muscles" (the ones you can see). General strength improvement for posture requires focusing on:

  • Isometric Strength: Holding a position against resistance (crucial for neck support).

  • Concentric/Eccentric Strength: Shortening and lengthening the muscle under control.

  • The "Antagonist" Muscles: If your chest and front neck are tight from leaning forward, you must strengthen the muscles in the back (the posterior chain) to pull your frame back into alignment.

3) I also often have low back pain. Does this have to do with posture?
An incorrect breathing pattern, such as chronic mouth breathing, can contribute to back pain. This is because the diaphragm has a dual role: breathing and stabilizing the back. Mouth breathing uses the diaphragm less efficiently for stabilization, forcing your back muscles to work harder to compensate. This can lead to muscle tension and fatigue in the lower back. We bring the Breath-Bit, the safe replacement for mouth tape. This can help work on a stronger diaphragm muscle.

4) Is massage also a good to use?
Massage is always a good idea. But as it is not working on the strength of the muscles. And because of that, it is a temporarely relief of the pain. This is the same for stretching the neck, heat pads etc. Most treatmenst are nice for the feeling but will not for a permanent solution.
